CLASS cruise DY116 to the Porcupine Abyssal Plain Sustained Observatory (PAP-SO) finally got underway at the beginning of November when the RRS Discovery set sail from Southampton.

Originally scheduled for spring/summer 2020, like so many activities, it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Scientists will retrieve data, take samples, make new observations and service the infrastructure to ensure continuation of the PAP time series.
