How the UK Delegation Engages with the IOC
The UK Delegation participates at the bi-annual Assembly and annual Executive Council, which are held during June/July at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. When necessary the UK IOC delegation is accompanied by specialist experts from government and/or the UK marine community, ensuring that the UK has the relevant expertise present. Prior to the Annual meetings, the UK IOC delegation organises a meeting with the key government partners to discuss agenda items and UK messaging.
In absence of a formal regional working forum for Group 1, in recent years the Vice-Chair for the group hosts an annual meeting to allow an opportunity for G1 member states to discuss upcoming Assembly and/or EC agenda items and any other business of particular relevance.
The IOC Assembly
The purpose of the IOC Assembly is to review the work of the commission, including the work of the member states and the secretariat, and formulate a common work plan for the coming two years.
The IOC Executive Council is responsible for reviewing issues and items from on-going work plans, and making preparations for the Assemblies.

Fifty-third Session of the IOC Executive Council
In the present health crisis, the IOC has postponed the July 2020 meeting and it will be rescheduled to a date to be confirmed.
A Roadmap document proposing methodologies for advancing the work in the intersessional period is being prepared based on the Provisional Action Paper for the session and will be shared through a Circular Letter from the Chairperson, as well as published on the IOC web-site.
