Evgeniy Yakushev
Dr. Evgeny Yakushev is a Senior Scientist with 30 years experience in chemical oceanography and biogeochemical modeling. His field of activity concerns the implementation of field and modeling techniques to investigate how biogeochemical cycles, chemical and biological processes affect nutrients (e.g. C, N, O, P, S, Fe. Mn), with particular emphasis on oxygen depletion processes and anoxia in the aquatic environment. During the last 15 years he has headed 10 national and international projects (FP6, FP7, ISF, CRDF, INTAS, NATO, RFBR, RAS) related to the World Ocean, the Black Sea, the Azov Sea and the Baltic Sea. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and one book. Evgeniy Yakushev graduated from the Moscow State University, and got his PhD and Dr.Sc in Shirshov Institue of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 2007 he has worked at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research, Oslo, where he specializes in benthic-pelagic coupling modeling, ocean acidification and mathematical modeling of pollutant propagation. He also leads NIVA and NFR funded projects devoted to investigating the oxic/anoxic water column interface in the Norwegian fjords. In the proposed project we will use NIVA's Bottom RedOx Model (BROM) to set up a coupled biogeochemical model for the CCS site.
