Eric Achterberg
Prof. Eric Achterberg is professor of marine biogeochemistry. He is Head of Marine Biogeochemistry at Ocean and Earth Sciences. He is currently a PI on a 5 UK Research Council marine biogeochemical research projects, and co-PI on another 6 projects, including two EU FP7 projects. He has extensive project management experience and has attracted £8.3 million in research income since 1994. He has published more than 135 scientific papers. He currently serves on the UK NERC Ocean Acidification Programme Advisory Group and the NERC Marine Facilities Review Group. His research interests are the oceanic carbonate system and ocean acidification, and the marine biogeochemistry of trace metals (including speciation), as well as carbon, nutrients, and their interactions with organisms. This includes development of novel analytical techniques, and their application to biogeochemical studies.
