AtlantiS supports evidence-based decision making and provides expert advice to the UK Government and parliamentarians on a range of marine environmental issues. Our researchers engage with Parliamentary Select Committees, provide contributions to publications such as PostNOTES, and participate in a range of all-party parliamentary groups (APPGs).
Internationally we provide expert scientific and technical advice to the G7 future of the Seas & Ocean initiative, ICOS),International Argo Steering committee, National Partnership for Ocean Prediction (NPOP), Natural Hazards Partnership, Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP) and the UK National Climate Science Partnership (UKNCSP), among others.
Internationally AtlantiS research is used as an input to IPCC and global climate assessment processes. This is primarily through prompt provision of data, peer-reviewed outputs and direct author contributions to IPCC Assessment Reports, and also through the provision of improved ocean model configuration for use in the UK contribution to the Coupled Model Inter-comparison Projects (CMIP), which underpin the IPCC process.
Our teams are actively involved in the UN Decade for Ocean science with several contributing actions.
