Scientists from the NOC and collaborators from MBA have just returned from a successful cruise (DY103) to the PAP-SO.
Data was recovered from our instruments at the ocean / atmosphere interface, the top 1m, 30m, 3000m and 4750m and samples and film footage from surface to seabed. We will produce the first data for calibrations immediately but some of the samples will take many years to work up for publication.
The PAP mooring was turned around and all sensors are telemetering data back to NOC. Seabed photographs are being taken by the bathysnap and sediment traps are collecting sinking particles and these are scheduled to be recovered in 2020.
